September 2022: Horoscopes for Moderns
Mars has a long field-day in Gemini. Read to the end for the most incredible meme about the Earth's healing process.
“Gemini is the bestower of names, thus the magician who can control nature-forces by uttering their ‘true names.’” —Dane Rudhyar
“Only connect.” —E.M. Forster
MARS HAS MOVED INTO A RAMBUNCTIOUS seven-month transit through Gemini. As manic as this might read, this is nature’s way of, hopefully, rekindling our humanity by bridging the widening ideological gap that’s rending the culture.
A central takeaway I’ve garnered after publishing on Substack for the past 18 months is to keep political analysis to a minimum. I’ve had readers email me detailed explanations about how and why Donald Trump is attempting to salvage what’s left of our democracy.
No, you didn’t read ‘savage’—but—see what I mean?
I mention this not to make fun of the notion but to illustrate how extreme the opposing opinions and beliefs have become. It’s assumed that everyone interested in astrology or New Age stuff is liberal, but this isn’t the case.
The upside for me has been recalling, once again, that having strong opinions about this or that does not equate with factual happenings or ‘truth.’ However, we seem to think that one should equal the other.
We tell ourselves that the cacophony we’re steeped in is a new phenomenon, but I disagree. I don’t think we ever truly completely understand anything in life.
I always thought that it was Einstein alone who birthed the theory of relativity. But, it was a woman, the mathematician Emmy Noether who first opened his eyes to the seed concept that keyed up his world-altering equation.
Part of the fury that underlies opposing opinions isn’t related to their content but to the degree of certainty that someone espouses about their beliefs.
But back to the long Mars through Gemini sojourn.
The importance of this transit relates to recalling and reconnecting to the power of the mind that Gemini typifies.
At baseline, this involves the impressions, nervous sensations, and the instantaneous—instinctive—reactions we have towards any sort of stimuli that comprises and animates the phenomenon we call life.
We’re back into the mainframe of our mind’s operation—the end product being comparison and analysis. Engaging the imagination to form words.
Words compile a language, and there you have the basis of the function related to the air element in astrology. Air is the atmosphere that unites and binds us as the human family.
Gemini often gets short-shifted by the cliches that dominate pop astrology. Clever, flighty, fickle. Keywords that are distanced from the core energy that drives the sign.
Gemini’s dharma is to be all over the place and note how this connects to that that connects to that over there that’s part and parcel this over here.
As the first of the air triad, the sign functions as a discoverer, a curiosity seeker, a looker and watcher, and a persistent student.
Absorbing the world to parse it and provide words to help steady and orient to the endless variety of expressions and experiences that comprise our world.
During the next seven months, there is an opportunity for us to return to our commonality. Or at least remember it. As I’ve mentioned, the cultural rift we are caught in relates little to political factions and has everything to do with class differences.
Air unites. As Dane Rudyhar once wrote:
“However separate and proud we may be in our feeling of superiority…as we walk along Park Avenue, we take willy nilly in the innermost depths our being (lungs and blood) the very same air which a moment ago has been breathed by a dirty peddler…or criminal…”
As Earthlings, we can not escape these unions. The small, sometimes limited confines of our conscious relationships with other human beings are extended (even against our will) by the air we breathe.
Mars, during the next seven months, will remind us of this truth in very literal and robust ways.
Expect cacophony at the start—more loud words and shakedowns. But look, too, for the Mercurial frontrunners of cooperation, clemency, and surprising strategies to quell the rumors of civil war that the media continues to stoke.
Mercury, Gemini’s ruler, as word magician, is how any process of alchemy engages. And we’ve got seven long months to work out a merger.
Don’t buy the class-dividing bullshit.
Here are your horoscopes for September. Note: These are not rising sign horoscopes. I fashion each overview by considering your Sun sign.
