As I've shared with you before. Frederick, I am fairly new to astrology. I subscribe to your Substack because I wish to understand more about it and because I appreciate the depth of your knowledge and your wisdom and your "Voice." I really appreciate this essay and also your summing up Arroyo's book and the podcast because I don't have the time for either, unfortunately. Thank you so much for not only continuing to deepen my understanding of astrology, but also my appreciation of it and respect for it - for that is something new for me as well.
If you missed my post on my top ten astrology books, you might revisit that to discover an array of different takes on astrology that will increase your understanding.
Devoured Mr. Arroyo’s previous books and have recently “turned off” the astrology cacophony. Too many pseudo sages and unnecessary complexity for me. Thank you so much for this notice of his most recent work. Sounds like a must-read!
I’m with you on the insane glut of what I call “Cheap Shit Astrology” that’s clogging video channels and poorly written blogs from here to Pluto. Thank you internet and SM.
The comment about water signs' impersonal quality explains much to this Scorpio. I can portray friendliness and caring pretty well, and even mean it (in the moment), but mostly would rather just be left alone to explore what the hell I'm doing on this planet!
That made me laugh, Monica— and yes, I get it: no one can sit and contemplate and REFLECT quite like the water signs. We need that sort of still retort for our best insights.
I’ve been practicing astrology for 26 years and am constantly annoyed by how simplified mainstream media has reduced it. It’s so incredibly nuanced and has more to do with soul growth and evolution than with mundane events. That’s the more responsible way of approaching the art in my opinion.
Thanks for this reminder, Freddy! I cut my teeth on Stephen Arroyo and Robert Hand. They are righteous dudes. Inspired.
Same here Jewell. Stephen ushered in such a wonderful blend of practical astrology with an esoteric spin. A trailblazer for sure.

Thank you for such high praise Janet.

I have always loved Arroyo but have not read this
I will remedy that :)
Pretty sure you’ll find the book enlightening Louise.
And BTW, congratulations on YOUR astrology book’s success on Amazon. No small feat nowadays!

Good points Chandon, I’ve the same sentiments.
