Wondrous!! With Saturn in Leo in the 9th house this opens to the world and to new possibilities. Thanks for your different take which reveals how alive astrology is and how static its been understood!! Hugs and love!!

Yes, Saturn in the fire signs searches for literal ways to relate to 'spirit' -- that vivifying 'something' that distinguishes animate from inanimate. Your natal placement is a classic 'teachers' position. Leo's central creation is always themselves and how demonstrating (Saturn) authenticity inspires others to do the same.

Saturn -ruled Cancerian Sun here and progressed Saturn is conjunct my natal Saturn in Taurus and all I keep thinking about (and writing about) is sovereignty and what that looks and feels like. Saturn as skin. Saturn as bones. And how all that ties in with feelings of comfort and safety etc...

I'm on a campaign of sorts to free Saturn from traditional astrology's dour representations. "The world of things," as Rilke calls it -- that's very much a Saturn/Taurus theme. And how mysterious matter actually is. A literal merger of samsara and nirvana.

Thank you for the invite to share... My natal Saturn is in Taurus (4°) in the 11th house, square Mars in Aquarius (1°) in the 8th house and opposite Mercury in Scorpio (7°) in the 5th house, and widely opposite the Sun (13°), also in Scorpio. Natal Venus (Saturn's dispositor) is in Libra (24°) conjunct Jupiter (22°) in the 4th house. Saturn rules the 7th house, (Ascendant/Descendant at 8°) Capricorn, and the 8th house, Aquarius, in my chart. Transiting Saturn is currently conjunct my MC at 22° Aquarius in the 8th house. I often find myself stuck, mired, incubating, for long stretches of time before finding the open door that leads me into change, action, transformation. I spent the first half of my life working out the emotional/psychological traumas of childhood and I am ready now to move up and out and forward... My aspirations are diverse but the conditions of my life are often limiting. I want above all else to support the Earth and Nature, protect our planet from our species' own destructive impulses. Whatever I do, I hope to inspire in my community a reverence for Nature and Empathy for the Earth and her diverse creatures. While I do beseech Saturn to reveal his offerings to me directly, I would invite any insight you have into Saturn's obscured, to my view, graces and gifts and how best to optimize these gifts in the service of our Mother Earth.

See my comment to Yolanda re the blessings of Saturn in Taurus.

A crucial consideration for you would be the Mars aspect to your Saturn. This bonds the two planets, imparting a sense of no rest or respite -- an incessant drive (Mars) to express one's sense of destiny (Saturn). As the old Christian mystic bromide goes: "Pray for exhaustion." Also known as 'letting go.'

Saturn in Taurus is a natural for making literal the insights of Zen and Tao.

"Saturn in Taurus is a natural for making literal the insights of Zen and Tao" *nodding head in agreement* thank you so much for this and your brilliance. I can relate to Salome's deep reverence for Nature. Also interesting ... my natal Mars in Cancer is sextile Saturn and my Pluto in Virgo is in an exact trine Saturn.

I have natal Saturn 5° from natal Mars in Aries and I've never really felt connected to either. Maybe it's my rudimentary understanding of astrology but even the idea of Saturn as mother or Mother in Aries doesn't click with me 🤔

Maybe it's an incomplete understanding of Aries. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Aries tends to express compulsively and with little consideration or afterthought for actions (or lack of actions). Not that that's a bad thing, it's simply the function of that sign to keep going, on to the next thing, and then on to the next thing.

It's interesting to me that whenever you share here in the comments I can sense the Mars/Saturn combination; there's a daring 'jump in' quality to how you participate and contribute. But with Saturn on your Mars you probably aren't consciously aware of this part of your nature.

Also, with that combination, autonomy is crucial. Not that relationships aren't important, but you might get sidetracked by overly considering others. That Saturnine Martian combination in a sign like Aries yearns for the freedom that solitude and focused, singleminded attention fosters.

Oh yeah. That's me😂 I'm surrounded by people or pets and while I appreciate all the love, I do yearn to be alone. I actually plan on "running away from home" in about 7 years.

I felt that Mars and Saturn so close, and Mars in Aries especially, had to mean *something* but it just never clicked.

I do tend to jump right in to comments or conversations. I have this blind spot (even though I'm aware of it🙄) where I think everyone's thought processes are like mine. I expect people to understand what I'm talking about. I know that comes from being intuitive but I forget that not everyone else is.

And I talk too much!😂

Thank you! 💕

Thank you for this Frederick, it certainly is an interesting take on Saturn. I read a very good article by Charlie Obert years ago about Saturn as a feminine planet; how, like the Moon, it rules cycles and is connected to the crone phase in a woman's life cycle. I am a Sun sign Capricorn with an unaspected Saturn (it is quintile my Mercury). It is also in exact conjunction to degree with my partner of 40 years' Moon. His Moon trines his Saturn. He's made my Saturn happy.

Expand full comment

An un-aspected Saturn is a lot of Saturn doing Saturn things unimpeded. Most likely a boon to your Capricorn (Saturnine) nature. And what a gift, your partners link up via his Moon Saturn trine. The pleasure of harmonious cycles working in tandem.

Love what you wrote about Saturn. Food for thought!

I’ve Saturn @ 21 in Gemini as the anchor of my Gemini stellium in the first house. It also trines Uranus @19 Libra in the fifth house.

First Sun @ 4, followed by Mercury @ 10, Venus @ 15 and then giving gravitas to this bunch good old Saturn. (My ASC is 26Taurus)

I feel a mix of early responsibility in life (paying my own rent at 15) but also a late bloomer in terms of my vocation.

I too look to Saturn in a chart to see where the alchemical work is. Although in the first house I’ve a hard time having a better sense of it for myself.

Currently it’s transiting my 9 house and next year it will cross my MC @ 0 Pisces.

Yes, Saturn connecting to Uranus would put you in a unique time sequence throughout your life -- you're waiting for the world to catch up to you in some ways. But don't wait too long. With transiting Saturn trining your Saturn now the timing is advantageous for a debut of some sort. Most likely Saturnine in nature, with a tinge of futurism coloring it. Let us know what comes to pass Venessa.

Thank you Frederick! Will do indeed let you know what comes to pass! :)

My Saturn in Gemini in the 9th seems to be a gift from heaven. I have a busy/buzzy chart and there's something really grounding about that saturn ... it also trines Uranus on the ascendant. Keeps me mind aligned methinks.

Libra Rising with Saturn in Aries 7th house. I’ve had two long term serious relationships in my entire life and Yes, I jumped right into both. At the same time, Autonomy is my middle name. I’m mid -50s and will have my 2nd Saturn Return in the near future. Currently single and not looking for love.

South Node 3 Aquarius, Saturn 5 Aquarius, Moon 23 Aquarius opposing North Node 3 Leo, Mars 12 Leo and squaring Mercury 1 Scorpio, both Sun and Neptune 13 Scorpio, and Venus 23 Scorpio Rx. House placement depends on house system used, I personally haven’t settled the house question for myself (would be a great topic for discussion I think lol). Had 2nd Saturn return earlier this year, transiting Saturn conjunct natal Moon and square natal Venus. As I think you know, I’ve always felt like I “know” Saturn better than any other planet. Interesting, my mom is an Aquarius Sun.
