The Dull Dick-Driven Dreariness of AI
AND: Archetypal astrologer Laurence Hillman featured on the NEW Rage of Aquarius cast.
AI IS PROOF THAT MODERN TECH is, at heart, greatly influenced by the charms of snake oil. Much like Bitcoin, it’s a fever dream of tech/science bros high on their own fumes. Only 1 in 5 AI ‘experts’ (or whatever you call them) are women. This signals a slew of red flags. Testosterone unmitigated by estrogen creates things like war and Jordan Peterson.
Every exchange online with my computer, iPad, or iPhone is glutted with the robot craze. It’s touted importance looms and leaps off of every website, SM feed or spam attack. Often the acronym is displayed in a glitzy illustrative style created in, natch, some AI-based graphic engine that’s been fed prompts like: #shiny, #futuristic, #vulgar, #yournewgod.
I’m an artist. AI will never, in a zillion years be able to duplicate the creative process I encounter when, I’m, say, washing the dishes and pick up a plate — the last remaining one from a collection of dishes from when I worked as a waiter in Waikiki for my boyfriend’s European-inspired café.
Holding the plate reminds me that I was reading Rimbaud at that time in Hawai’i, and that memory cross-references over to my manic fandom for
when I lived in Los Angeles in the 70s. I went to see her perform three times in a row at her debut at the Roxy on Sunset Boulevard. You had to have been there for her incantational spell-making, you’d have done repeat visits too.I’d created a sort of zen altar for Smith’s album Horses back in my LA apartment, with Patti’s very Frank Sinatra-inspired white shirt and black suit jacket ensemble shot by Robert Mapplethorpe on the cover.
Leap back to my kitchen sink in Vashon. And I recall the stark nature of Horses’ black and white cover and that inspires the schematic for arranging a group of photos I’m preparing for an art’s publication I art direct.
The next day, with a new montage in my brain pan, I finish up the featured photographer’s portfolio. It looks great, and it’s definitely ‘my style’ (with a smidgen of Patti and Robert’s influence).
I’ve had the same iPhone now for, lemme think—six years now. The battery is down to 75 percent retention, or whatever, but it works fine. With every new iteration from Apple, I read up on the new features and gizmo-ish promises, thinking I’ll need to upgrade—but all that’s ‘improved’ is the addition of some weird emojis along with more invasive ways of spying on my life. More electronic snake oil.
Anyway, no big ‘revelation’ here other than me kvetching about the continued ‘no there there’ hype of the tech lords.

I saw something the other day and I was like YES, THIS:
"You know what the biggest problem with pushing all-things-Al is? Wrong direction. I want Al to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for Al to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes" via Working Mom Notes on IG. But hey, that's a women's POV, exactly your point!
Someone named ‘niki rich’ just emailed me this comment. Must be a Sam Altman bro. He seems to have forgotten that he emerged from a woman’s vagina.
“hey dickhead, look around dicks invented everything... fly on a plane ? land it on a runway in the fog? drive a car? had a catscan? had a Xray?”
