A Tarot deck to remind you that it's time to abandon social media ..."one moment your life is a stone in you, and the next, a star..."...Revenge bedtime syndrome...and more.
Reflection 1: No sign of Mark Zuckerberg as The Emperor
ITALIAN MUSICIAN AND ILLUSTRATOR Jacopo Rosati has created a series of Tarot images based on the soul-destroying experience of social networking. Instead of The Fool, The Empress, and The Hermit, Rosati’s Major Arcana features Trolls, Bots, and Dick Pics.
Sadly, no dick—I MEAN deck exists, although I was able to track down a poster that’s for sale on the Threadless website. Rosati’s Tarot was created back in 2017—eons ago in internet time—but as the fervor continues for all things POMO-Tarot, we can still hold out hope that a deck will be forthcoming.
Reflection 2: The poem Sunset by Rainer Maria Rilke
Slowly the west reaches for clothes of new colors
which it passes to a row of ancient trees.
You look, and soon these two worlds both leave you
one part climbs toward heaven, one sinks to earth.
leaving you, not really belonging to either,
not so hopelessly dark as that house that is silent,
not so unswervingly given to the eternal as that thing
that turns to a star each night and climbs-
leaving you (it is impossible to untangle the threads)
your own life, timid and standing high and growing,
so that, sometimes blocked in, sometimes reaching out,
one moment your life is a stone in you, and the next, a star.
—Rainer Maria Rilke
Reflection 3: Revenge bedtime is actually happening!
FROM ONE OF MY FAVORITE Instagram feeds, Depthsofwikipedia.
And so is this:
Reflection 4: Habitat Soundscapes
AN ENVIRONMENTAL MUSIC COLLABORATION between Berlin-based composer Niklas Kramer and percussionist Joda Foerster, as inspired by the drawings of Italian architect Ettore Sottsass. Each of the eight tracks represents a room in an imaginary building.
The titles—Moon Corridor, The Fountain, Levitation Room, capture the sonic mood of these delicate reveries. You can hear three of them right now on Bandcamp. The entire album should appear on Spotify after April 9. At least I hope so.
